Entries that do not adhere strictly to these rules and guidelines will not be judged. This contest is open to US Citizens ages 18 and older living in the continental United States who meet the following criteria: (1) They have children enrolled in the school they are nominating, or (2) they are affiliated with the school by way of volunteer or paid work.

Entrants are strongly encouraged to submit their essays and photos online via e-mail. You will receive an automatic reply to confirm your essay entry. All essays must be received by 11:59 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, December 31, 2005.

All entries must be RECEIVED by 5:00 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, December 31, 2005. Entries may not be sent via facsimile. Entries that arrive after 11:59 p.m. (CT), December 31, 2005, will not be accepted under any circumstances.
General Instructions
Every essay must include the name, address and phone number of the school as well as the name of its principal. Each essay must include the name, address and phone number of the person submitting the essay. Essays should be 500 words or fewer in length and should describe what makes the school a healthy school via summary and at least one example. Please refrain from using specific student examples that include a particular student's name.
Entries will be judged and will not be returned to entrants. By submitting an essay, entrants certify that their essays are original and do not plagiarize or otherwise infringe upon the rights of any third parties. Winners will be notified of contest results and winning essays will be posted to our Web site and published in Family Energy magazine by August 8, 2006.

Judges’ decisions are final. Family Energy LLC reserves the right not to award a prize or any prizes when submissions do not meet contest standards or criteria. In the event any prize is discontinued or otherwise unavailable, Family Energy LLC reserves the right to deliver in lieu thereof a prize, gift certificate or cash of equal or greater value. All taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. All entries become the property of Family Energy LLC and will not be acknowledged or returned. No responsibility is assumed for lost, late or misdirected entries, for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission or any human error that may occur in the receipt or processing of the entries.
Limitations
Participants whose entries are selected may be requested to provide proof that they are the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the selected entry. Participants whose entries are selected must confirm their mailing address by responding as instructed electronically to the communication from Family Energy LLC notifying them that their entry has been selected and that they are a potential winner.
Void in the State of Rhode Island and void wherever restricted or prohibited by law. Entries received from persons residing in geographic areas in which entry is not permissible will be disqualified.
Employees of Family Energy LLC and their respective immediate family members (defined as spouse, child, sibling, parent or grandparent) and persons living in the same household of each are not eligible. All applicable laws and regulations apply.
If for any reason this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by a computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of Family Energy LLC that corrupt and affect the administration, secrecy, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of such contest, Family Energy LLC reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend such contest and/or disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. In the event of a dispute regarding online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized holder of the e-mail account submitted at the time of entry. Authorized account holder is defined as the person who is assigned to an e-mail address by the Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for arranging e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Family Energy LLC does not assume any responsibility for any computer injury or damage related to or resulting from accessing and/or downloading any contest material.
By participating in any contest, each entrant agrees to release and hold Family Energy LLC, its respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, agents, contractors, employees and assigns, harmless against any and all claims, demands, damages, losses or liabilities of any nature whatsoever, including but not limited to, any harm or loss of any nature whatsoever, caused by, contributed to, arising out of or related to such contest and the winning, redemption or use of any prize and entrant assumes all liabilities for the same. By participating in any contest and/or by acceptance of any prize, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of Family Energy LLC.
The Family Energy America's Healthiest School contest is conducted in English and any and all disputes will be resolved in the appropriate courts in the State of Illinois, exclusively, and subject to the laws of the State of Illinois. Should there be conflict between the laws of the State of Illinois and any other laws, the conflict will be resolved in favor of the laws of the State of Illinois. If any part of these Official Rules shall for any reason be declared invalid or unenforceable by any final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction or arbitration panel, such provision or provisions shall be reformed to approximate as nearly as possible the intent of the parties, and the validity of the remaining portions shall not be affected thereby to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Family Energy LLC, its affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, franchises, contractors and agents are not responsible for errors in the presentation of the Family Energy America's Healthiest School contest. Rules are subject to any requirements/limitations imposed by the U. S. Federal Trade Commission. Submission of entry and/or acceptance of a prize constitutes acceptance of these Official Rules, and permission for Family Energy LLC and its representatives and agents to print, publish, broadcast and use in any media winners' names, voices, photographs and/or likeness without compensation for purposes of advertising and promotional use, including releasing a list of winners' names and addresses to interested parties, unless prohibited by law.
For a list of winners’ names and addresses, available thirty (30) days after the conclusion of the contest and for a period of six (6) months thereafter, send a separate, stamped, self-addressed #10 business-size envelope to: Family Energy America’s Healthiest School contest, One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman Ave., Evanston, IL 60201.
The contest is not sponsored, endorsed or affiliated with the companies whose products are offered as prizes.
